PORTER-CABLE PCCK602L2 Product Description
The Porter-Cable PCCK602L2 20-Volt Max Lithium 2 Tool Combo Kit comes with a drill/driver and an impact driver, plus the necessary accessories to power through the toughest metal drilling, wood drilling, and fastening applications.
The drill/driver (model PCC600) features 330 units watts out (UWO), a two speed gear box (0-400/0-1,600), compact design (7.6 inches long/3.8 pounds), and a 1/2-inch metal ratcheting chuck. The impact driver (model PCC640) features 1,450 inch/pounds of torque, high-performance variable-speed transmission (0-2,900 RPM, 0-3,100 BPM), a compact design (6.2 inches long/3.5 pounds), and a one-handed, easy loading 1/4-inch hex chuck.
Both tools have a battery fuel gauge that displays the amount of charge remaining in the battery. These 20-volt Max Lithium Ion batteries with 1.5 amp/hour cells delivers more power and runtime in a smaller package.
Porter-Cable has managed to pack all that lithium-ion power in a small package — measuring less than 8 inches in length and weighing only 3.5 pounds, the PCC600 20-volt max drill-driver was built to fit into tight spaces inside nooks and crannies to drill and fasten easily but powerfully. Its ergonomic design and slim handle reduce user fatigue and increase ease of use over long periods of time. A built-in LED light improves visibility, while rubber bumpers on both sides help to protect it from wear and tear. A belt clip is included that can be attached to fit both left- and right-handed users for easy access on the job site.
Also compact, convenient and powerful, the Porter-Cable PCC640 measures only 6.2 inches in length and weighs only 3.2 pounds. This 20-volt max impact driver was also built to fit into tight spaces inside nooks and crannies to fasten easily but powerfully. Its ergonomic design, cold-forged internal impact block, and no-slip grip reduce user fatigue and increase ease of use over long periods of time. A built-in LED light improves visibility, while rubber bumpers on both sides help to protect it from wear and tear. The 1/4-inch hex quick-change chuck and two-bit storage feature make it easy to change and store bits. This includes a built-in belt hook which means it’s never out of arm’s reach on the job.[azonreviewhero template=”cta” id=””]

New kid on Porter Cable block
The PORTER-CABLE PCCK602L2 20V MAX Lithium 2 Tool Combo Kit is my first Porter Cable product. It was purchased on sale at a box store (the one with the blue building). Sorry Amazon, but I am on a fixed income and the sale price was $30 cheaper than your price.I chose this package because of the 4 & 5 star reviews on Amazon & the Box Store website.Out of the box, the charge level indicator indicated 2/3 battery power. I drove a 3 1/2 inch screw in seasoned wood with the drill/driver and impact driver with no problems.UtilityCompared to other similar products I have used, both units: are lighter, more compact and powerful enough for my most intense DYI projects. The units feel like they are an extension of my hand rather than a bulky tool.SurprisesThe drill / drivers have: true variable speed triggers not just slow and fast, convenient magnetic bit holders on top of the unit rather than clips on the side, sturdy belt clips that can be mounted the side of the handle.ConThe impact driver makes more noise than I expected. Will not be able to use it in the house before my wife wakes up.I plan to build two 144 sf storage sheds in the next few months. This review will be updated once there is more experience with the tools.Previous tools ownedMakita: Very good tool, but the cost of replacement batteries NiCad makes it more cost effective to buy a new tool with lithium batteries.Ryobi: ok but the company seems to be cutting corners with their product packages (example: only one battery supplied. Also, furnishing useless items such as flashlights in the package. They should leave the light out if they want to cut costs.Skil: Piece of junk. Drill is ok but the batteries are nearly worthless after only a few months. This is the last Skil product I will own.
Alright tools that are not backed by company.
I purchased these guns around a year ago when they came onto the market thinking I would give them a chance. From the start, i was happy with the performance of the guns. The guns were fast and seemed to drive better than my old DeWalt 18v set, and i loved how light they were. Battery performance was alright – they hardly would last an hour under a decent amount of use and after 10 months they seemed to be done within a half hour. The batteries do charge quickly.Unfortunately, the impact gun’s internal gear assembly failed about 10 months in when I was driving a ledger locker. The gears came apart and the case cracked under the pressure. I called the 1-800 number and was told to ship my gun to a service center. Once there, I was told that the gun was not covered due to the fact that the issue was not caused by normal wear and tear. I was also told that this is not a contractor grade tool by the rep, and if it was – the company would surely have covered it. The cost to repair said item would have been 88 dollars. Needless to say, i went out and purchased a new set of tools from a different company.I used the tools on a few deck projects and a couple small interior jobs. They were not used for 10 straight hard months of construction duty. The drill is still useful but seems to have slight chuck wobble so it’s just a backup for me now.I regret buying this pair and porter cable has put a bad taste in my mouth despite my other tools from this company performing so well.To sum it up : This is a light duty set of tools which work well in the beginning but fade over time. Company will not back the tools. Not worth the investment. There are so many better options out there.
Great deal, great tools
I’ll readily admit I don’t use these every day, but I have used them to drill a ton of holes in the wall- some through wood – plus assembled a bunch of furniture. Both tools are very powerful and last an insanely long time on one charge. They are very well made and are lightweight.I’d previously been using a Genesis 18V for light work around the house. It’s a cheap drill, comes with a hard case, and works quite well considering the cost. However, it’s a NiCad powered model and I got tired of having to charge it every time I took it out of the cabinet. These guys don’t have that problem and come with two batteries to boot. Charge time is also very fast. The tools have LED lights for use in dark spaces and are reasonably compact- not the smallest ones out there but good size for the power. One minor gripe is they don’t come with a hard case- just a bag. However for the cost of this package (about $150 as of this writing) that’s rather to be expected. The grip is comfortable, and the drill/driver is a two-speed. They come with reversible driver bits and belt clips. While I can’t say if they would work for heavy-duty commercial use, I wouldn’t be shocked if they did just as well as much more expensive DeWalt, Milwaukee, and Makita models with similar specs. I’ve used my dad’s Makita which cost at least 3 times what this drill cost me, and it doesn’t seem any more powerful and is also heavier. Think I got the better deal there.
My husband needed an impact driver and he liked this combo kit. The 20v is powerful. He already had an 18v drill but it needed a new battery and the replacement batteries are so expensive that he decided to just get an all new set. This is definitely an upgrade to the 20V Max Lithium Ion batteries. With two batteries included, you can’t beat the price. The Porter-Cable brand has always been excellent brand for us. We bought our impact driver/drill set locally but currently it is the same price on Amazon.
