This driver is definitely lighter than my older Dewalt. The battery pack is half the size, although I think the overall weight is similar to the Dewalt. One big difference that I have already adjusted to is the one part keyless chuck. While the Dewalt had a keyless chuck, it had a two part chuck that you could tighten and loosen by hand, which is how I tended to use it. The Porter-Cable is tightened and loosened by holding the chuck and pulling the trigger while the motor turns in the direction you need – looser or tighter. It works fine, and once I’ve been doing it more regularly it will be even smoother. PORTER-CABLE’s 18-volt lithium ion batteries deliver a compact, lightweight platform to minimize fatigue while providing extended run time. The batteries have virtually no self discharge, so they’re ready to go even after an extended period of time. The battery provides full power until it fully discharges, ensuring maximum performance with each charge. All PORTER-CABLE 18-volt lithium ion batteries can be easily swapped with other tools in the 18-volt lineup.
