The Makita 18V LXT Lithium-Ion Cordless 1/2-Inch Hammer Driver-Drill (model XPH012) delivers versatility and performance to the jobsite. The XPH012 can be run as a driver-drill or a hammer driver-drill, allowing the user to carry just one tool on the job instead of two, replacing the standard driver-drill. It’s part of Makita’s expanding 18V Lithium-Ion series, the world’s largest cordless tool line-up powered by an 18V Lithium-Ion slide-style battery. Makita 18V Lithium-Ion batteries have the fastest charge times in their categories, so they spend more time working and less time sitting on the charger.

Excellent value Makita LXT drills and drivers a hard to beat. I contracted for years and use to use mostly DeWalt and Bosch. Four years ago it was time to replace my Bosch 18v NiCd drill and impact. I was pretty set on just getting another Bosch kit, but found a good deal on the Makita LXT combo. With moderately hard use, it has held up without issue every since. When I found this driver on sale for $99, I just couldn’t pass.
More than you paid for, more than you bargained for? I believe this is a special holiday item and pricing, at $100 it is about the same price as the included battery. It must be meant to get a larger customer base into Makita’s extensive line of 18v tools. The battery is high capacity, and charges extremely quickly (closer to 20min than 30min at room temperature). While there is no memory effect with Lithium Ion batteries, the charge also dies off without warning and there is no charge indicator on the tool or battery. On the initial partial charge, I had to remove a drill bit in the rafter so my new drill wasn’t hanging there as I took the battery to the charger. The second session (full charge) was much longer so I may not buy a spare or just get the half sized spare (1.5Ah, Makita BL1815 Battery). There have been many complaints from weekend warriors of the batteries going prematurely caput whereas people who use them daily have no issues. The best explanation I have seen is that the charging chip slowly draws off the first cell only…
Another Great Offering From Makita at a FANTASTIC PRICE What a deal for the drill and the 1830 battery! I did not need the charger or the battery as I have a large quiver of Makita 18V Lithium Ion tools and have a half dozen batteries and a charger. I bought it for the convenience of a cordless hammer drill. I have a Makita HR2475 corded hammer drill and it is a fantastic hammer drill, but I do not like to bust it out and plug it in for one or two holes which is common in my line of work.
