Makita's compact Hammer Drill weighs in at only 3.4 pounds but delivers plenty of power of maximum torque. The all metal gear construction provides increased durability. The Makita 18v compact batteries charge in only 15 minutes, 4X times faster than 18v Ni-Cd. The 15 minute Rapid Optimum Charger communicates with the batteries built-in chip throughout the charging process to optimize battery life by actively controlling current, voltage and temperature. The 15-minute Rapid Optimum Charger has a built in fan to cool the battery which helps produce more lifetime work. There is a 3 year warranty on the tool and a one year warranty on the battery and charger.
Makita Still Makes the Best Cordless Tools Out There Hands Down
After years of using and appreciated the Makita Nicad lineup, I finally made the plunge to lithium ion. Glad I did!
Does the job
It’s a good drill.
I Love This Drill
I’m a cordless drill freak. I’ve had many in the past 20 years. This drill is the best.
I like it
Thus far, I’m very happy with this driver; it’s a big step up from the ~10 year old 18 volt drive it was replacing, which probably has more to do with the current battery technology than anything else (although this also lighter has a smaller form factor which is also nice). The batteries provide a lot of power despite their small form factor and, best of all, charge in about 15 minutes. As a result of the good battery life and really fast charging, I’ve yet to run out juice on a project.
Professional Grade at a low price
This drill is pretty epic. I gave it to my dad for Christmas a year ago and he’s built a few decks and some other projects with it. I borrowed it since my littler set doesn’t work with wood much. I was impressed, the battery life is pretty long, I could get about 4 or 5 hours of hard work out of it and the drill never bogged down or overheated. The batteries were charged by the time I needed to switch them out, so I never had to stop working and wait, which is a huge plus over the crappy Black and Decker I bought him before this.
One of the better drills out there.
i have always used dewalt drills at work and have always been skeptical about other brands. Well when i had my drill stolen my company issued me one of these and i ended up liking it so much i bought one for myself. The batteries charge in 15 minutes and that charge will get you through several non major home construction projects. The drill itself feels very well balanced in your hand and is comfortable to hold. I know its durable because my work drill has been dropped from telephone poles and left out in the rain and hasnt yet missed a beat. And its quite powerful, if its in low gear/high torque mode and your bit gets stuck it can easily break your wrist if you dont let go. Worth every cent.
But it performs fine and the battery life is awesome
I use this tool occasionally so I can’t really speak to longevity, etc. But it performs fine and the battery life is awesome. In hindsight I probably would have purchased the next grade up (blue one) in order to use the same battery and charger for other tools such as the Makita reciprocating saw (sawzall).
BEST Cordless Drill I Have EVER Used!
I am a sign contractor & have been using cordless tools professionally since 1985. This is without a doubt the BEST cordless drill I have ever used. The power to weight ratio is incredible. The ergonomics superb. Battery life is very good. No fatigue after a day of using it. Very smooth; excellent trigger; charges vary fast. I will be buying more of them!
Good drill great batteries
I bought this because I had a Mankita angle drill I bought years ago and it still works great. In the passed I have bought
It’s a Makita
I bought this particular model for my Son-in-Law so I haven’t tried it personally. I have the same model only not a hammer drill and really like it. The batteries charge fast and hold a charge for a long time. Plenty of screw/drill power. This is my second Makita driver in the last 25 years and would purchase again.
