I am a very careful shopper when it comes to my tools. I did the homework and this is the best drill, mine or others, that I have ever used. I am an electrical control specialist and I find myself needing to drill, bore, assemble and disassemble system configurations in all types of material. My step bit hum through steel with ease and screws obey my commands. Concrete melts to butter and pilot holes are true. One review said that this might be overkill for the weekend warrior but I’d disagree. This kit has the versatility and lasting power that any tool guy could ever ask for! There are two things that I need to point out. First, the power needs to be respected. Know that these tools have so much power that they might surprise you if a bit gets jammed. The second thing is you should always keep the charger in an obvious place. You will use it so infrequently that you might forget where it is.

Great Battery life, Powerful, but will require frequent cleaning…

Awesome battery life. Motor doesn’t even get hot when worked hard. I’ve had some bad luck with Milwaukee (Battery anchoring system cracks, preventing battery from being able to be held onto tool, and several batteries’ self check LED system failed…) – but so far none of these issues with the DeWalt. I still have some 18V NiCad DeWalt tools that are still going strong, so it was hard to justify this purchase, but having played with brushless motors in the 1/10 scale R/C hobby and seeing how superior brushless motor technology is there, I just had to have this tool. Power-wise, it is everything I expected… a tool set that’s able to wear me out between recharges…

Dude. Just get it already. Suh.

These things are freaking awesome. I’m definitely a review type person and did my research on these bad boys. I’ve read complaints about not being able to register online for the warranty, it took me nearly 180 seconds to do so, oh my gosh, so hard. It comes with a carry bag, does anyone actually use them? Lol. I bought the bit set as well and oh my lanta I’m happy.

At the time, this was the best deal for the drill and 2 batteries and i got an impact with it. It is the best of the best as far as drills go. It hammers through concrete, cuts through steel, and, makes wood its little bitch. I have used it to drill 9″ thick 1-1/2″ holes in brick, and though it took about 5 minutes, it did the job. for large holes like that, i recommend buying a corded hammer drill, but for anything under 1/2 inch, this is perfect. No problems whatsoever going through steel, wood, or sheet metal, as long as the bit is sharp. just be sure if you’re drilling into thick material, or using a bit that could get stuck in the hole (like a paddle bit) that you are very careful, as the lowest speed/highest torque setting could possibly break your arm, and the middle setting could knock you off your ladder. use the clutch. the high speed section is also rediculously fast.

Absolutely worth the price. Best drill set I’ve ever handled

This was a good $60 cheaper than the next cheapest set I’ve seen. I’ve beaten the impact to hell with work and home projects, yet it refuses to even show any signs of weakness. The build quality and superb battery life should justify the cost to even the most skeptical buyer. Sure you can purchase a cheap Ryobi/Ridgid/B&D set which will do a similar job, however a single one of these batteries will last longer than both of the Ryobi’s (personally experienced this). When you finally do need to charge, it won’t take nearly as long as you expect. For a worker in a commercial setting, these 4 amp/hr batteries are a must (you can get away with the 2.0 amp/hr with light use) and for the weekend warrior the 4.0 amp/hr batteries are a godsend in case you forget to charge them from your last use. NOTE: I like Milwaukee tools as well, however this beats the comparable Milwaukee set by the smallest amount

Great impact, Ok drill

I love the Impact driver but the drill could be better. The drill performs VERY well but I sometimes I have a hard time switching between speeds and I have to engage the trigger then let off to switch. the gear box is very noisy right out of the box. it makes a loud clacking sound when you let of the trigger. I thought i got a bunk drill at first but i found out that’s how they all are. The drill performs well though and is very strong and the battery last a long time.

Powerful and Lasts Long

They are very good drills. The batteries last longer compared to other drills. Able to control the speed and the amount of force on the hammer drill. They have led lights to make things easier to see. The 3 LEDs on the impact drill are right by the bit which is very convenient. It could be used as a flashlight if there is no power. The single LED on the hammer drill is at times useless. It is on the front bottom there the battery is located. At times, it will get covered by something. With the right drill bits, it drills through metal and concrete very well. The batteries will show how much power is left by pushing the button on them. It does it using 3 bars.

Great Dewalt service

All together for $230 plus $15.49 shipping cost. It came in few days. The bit holder is missing. I called Dewalt and the associate said she will send it out immediately and it should take about 6 days to arrive. Great Dewalt service! Charged the two 4 Ah batteries in less than half an hour to full charge. Break in the tool without load for few minutes in forward and reverse running conditions. Took the impact driver out and attached a Milwaukee 1/2″ socket adapter on it with a 17 mm impact socket. Tried to loose my MB ML320 lug nut torqued at 70 ft-lb. Ran the impact driver about a minute. The gear case was hot but the lug nut didn’t move. Tried to loose the lug nut at 60 ft-lb. No luck again. Then tried to loose the lug nut at 50 ft-lb. It took the lug nut off. Oh well, this impact tool is not designed for lug nut but it can take the smaller bolts and nuts off for car repair. Definitely it is an excellent tool for driving screws and bolts. The battery last very long for the jobs too. Overall, it is an excellent impact driver and hammer drill combo for my price.

Excellent quality combo!

Very nice, well-designed hammer drill/impact driver combo. They feel quite solid in the hands. Like any hammer drill, the chuck is loose and has play in it when you stop the drill. This only really becomes an issue when driving screws though – something I don’t often do with a hammer drill, unless it’s a small screw and I’m concerned about over-driving it and stripping the threads. That’s what the impact driver is for… Just be sure you use only impact-rated bits in it!
