The best, most indispensable tools I own
I purchased these in May 2014, and have used them more than any other tools I own, and can’t imagine being without them. I’m not a pro but a very active DIYer (I buy and renovate foreclosures, which often come with a myriad of problems). The Dewalt name still stands for high quality tools, and these have lived up to it. I’ll keep this short as others have already covered what I’ve experience in detail. Battery life is phenomenal, I sometimes catch myself forgetting when I’ve charged them and use both tools multiple times per week, sometimes for several hours, often going several months without charging. These two tools, along with a Dewalt miter saw, were my best friends when installing a 36’ x 14’ deck a couple years ago.
Dewalt tough and strong
So far I’ve used both drill and driver for several projects around the house and I have yet to be disappointed. I’d had a Dewalt XRP 18V drill for the last 18 or so years, which I have used as an electrician and various DIY projects. I only had to buy batteries for it once, but the drill was finally starting to give out. I had been wanting to switch to Li-ion batteries for a while, so instead of getting it rebuilt, I searched for a new drill/driver set. For under $300 I found this set on Amazon. It was the best price I found. I’ve had the set for about 2 months now and still haven’t had to charge the batteries since the initial charge. Although, so far, I’ve only used it around the house. Unfortunately the driver has so much torque that it broke an impact rated phillips bit made by Husky that I was using to drive deck screws. That’ll teach me. I haven’t used the hammer drill function on the drill yet, but I’m certain I’ll be more than happy with it as well. Overall it seems to me that Dewalt still makes a quality tool and I should be happy for years to come.
My first Dewault item ever and I love it. These tools are light in my hand
My first Dewault item ever and I love it. These tools are light in my hand. They have a good soft grip to them. The charging of the batteries are super fast.
This set is great for the handyman and the occasional super intense project. They will both run for hours on a charge. The Hammer Drill will power through cement much more slowly than an SDS hammer drill, but at the same time is fine for a few holes. The Impact Driver has a lot of torque and if given the chance with the right fastener, will effortlessly break its head off. I used the Hammer drill to pilot holes and the impact driver to drive screws. The Hammer Drill is best suited to fine work, while the Impact Driver is best suited for powering in screws, lag bolts, and bolts. The short depth of the impact driver was a life saver in some of the tighter spots.
Packed with plenty of power & torque. No job too big or small. Just used it on the hammer drill mode to install some tapcons in concrete. No problem. Also the impact driver is perfect. I Will be buying more of these as we are a commercial business.
DeWalt Dynamic Duo leads the back, but just barely.
Excellent tools with power to spare from the battery packs. IF you want the best on the market and are willing to pay for it, these two can’t be beat.

Every bit as good as my Panasonics
I’ve had a couple of Panasonic 14.4 volt impact drivers and drills since 2004 and use them almost daily. They have been incredible tools, and they still work, but I’m on my third set of batteries and I figured that it was time to give newer battery tech a try. While I’ve always seen Dewalt as reliable but relatively unrefined tools in comparison to their Japanese counterparts, this set has changed that opinion. The ergonomics and performance of both tools in this set are top-notch. This Dewalt set is on-par with my Panasonics, but not superior to the Panasonics except perhaps battery life– which really shows how far ahead of the competition Panasonic was in 2004.
Best cordless power tools I have ever owned.
This is probably the best set of cordless power tools I have ever owned.
This is a great set for the professional or home handyman
This is a great set for the professional or home handyman. I switched to the 20 Max tools in 2012 and haven’t been disappointed at all. The greatest benefit, to me, is that this is the growing line of LI tools in Dewalt;s line. That means more options, greater interchangeability of batteries and parts will be available longer.
