Great for the Price, but not true 20v
Order these on a whim. I needed some new Dewalt’s and saw this package deal for 20v Lithium drill set. Now, I will say this – Title is slightly deceiving as it’s 20v Max and 12v base. Still does the job and works extremely well!! Used it to put my 4.5″ lift kit on my 92 Jeep and had no issues for the most part. Battery life is decent. For consistent pick up and use I got about a good 4 solid hours before she needed to change the battery ( That is undo a bolts, put down, line up new shackles thread on new bolts and then use dewalt to set them and lock them down).
Can’t go wrong with Dewalt!
Purchased this drill and driver combo for my automotive shop. The batteries are long lasting which is very convenient. They provide enough power to get the job done. My guys can use this working on cars or I can use this just around the office doing fix it jobs. DEWALT is a great brand and I will stick their products. Very happy with my purchase.
Don’t read any more reviews, this is the one you want!
If you are on the fence about getting an impact driver, do it! It has changed the way I work and I will never go back. I had seen them for years and did not have the opportunity to use one until recently. Now its in the front cab of my truck with some bits for whenever. At Home Depot, the impact driver with one battery costs just as much as this kit, with an EXTRA battery and a drill. I was hesitant to go to 20V since all of my other tools are 18V Dewalt (Dewalt fanboy here) but it has surpassed my expectations and I bet I’ll be upgrading my tools to 20v one by one in the coming years. Dewalt has never let me down, with both their corded and cordless tools and this is no exception. Plenty of power in a more compact form. For those that want to know, the drill is about 1.5″ shorter than the 18v equivalent (from 3 years ago) and is ounces lighter. Great ergonomics and feel for both drill and impact driver. I was planning on using the impact driver for wood screws and other jobs, but it has been keeping up with everything I have thrown at it, including some 1/2″ rusty bolts on the undercarriage of my truck. IMPRESSED!
Great power tool tandem. Charges quickly and goes a long time between charges. I have a drill unit that is 6 years old and still running fine after years of hard use. My work is seasonal, so they go a few months unused every year. The batteries hold a charge for months, come out of the bag ready to work. Plenty of power, I’ve used the impact wrench to change tires on several occasions.
New batteries don’t last.
Disappointing entry from Dewalt. I bought this to replace the older set I had and the lighter lithium batteries looked appealing. Problem is, these things don’t last. I would get hours of use out of my old set. For a big project I could go all day on one battery. These last less than an hour on a full charge. Very disappointing. Every project takes twice as long because we have to keep charging the batteries.
Cost more….but they are the best
What can you say….it’s a Dewalt. I’ve had another vendor that is cheaper…but they just aren’t the same. You get what you pay for….and after using my son’s Dewalt’s I decided to upgrade. Loving them. They also make an amazing power gyro screw driver that the best tool every.
They are strong. Great product
drill driver ratcheting chuck comes unlocked almost every time I use it
I love the impact driver…it is one of my favorite tools. Lots of power and has a light that is in the right spot and is plenty bright. The batteries last a long time and are quick to charge. Love the carry bag. I only gave it 3 stars because of the drill. The ratcheting chuck for the drill driver is a very bad design. It comes unlocked almost every time I use it. I followed the included instructions. It is so bad that my contractor wouldn’t use it. Just a small side comment, but the light on the drill driver is not as good as the impact driver.
Drill in kit can have a problem with the bits falling out of the drill chuck
Have many Dewalt tools and like the products. Before purchasing saw a U Tube review that said SOME of the drills in this kit have a problem with the bits falling out of the drill chuck when the trigger is released. So tested drill upon arrival and sure enough the bits kept falling out-the drill stops VERY fast and twists in your hand from torque. Spoke to customer service and without any problem from them sent it out-prepaid- for repair. Got it back with same problem. Now am sending to different service center (want it fixed and did not request a refund) for replacement with a tested drill. BTW, the impact driver and batteries in kit work great. Company told me if drill does not work properly upon return, they will give me full refund
