Great laser! One of my favorite Dewalt tools
Bought this end of December. Shipped and sold by Amazon.
A versatile tool. Everyone should own one!
When I first started seeing oscillating tool advertisements popup, they were nothing more than vibratory sanders that could get into tight corners. After I started replacing my old lower voltage cordless and corded tools last year with Dewalt 20V Max equivalents, I ran across the DCS355. Still not convinced I needed one, I did some research. First, I looked at all the available accessories that Dewalt offered. I was impressed with all the different cutting and sanding tools, and the things you could do with them. Then I went on to watch a few videos which immediately hooked me on this Dewalt Oscillating tool.
Belt Clip Rage!!
I’ve used it all together for maybe 1h so far. Just got it today. But something annoyed me enough i had to write a review..
Belt Clip; I don’t see no stinking belt clip
I’m a picky person and I have been through half dozen multi tools I have settled on a Fein 250q Fein 350q and the Dewalt dcs355. I first purchased a Rockwell F50 and loved it and rated very high and I would have kept it if it wasn’t that I had the chance at both Fein’s for nearly no money. I also purchased a PC 3 amp and took it back a Dewalt corded version and liked it but took it back when I purchased this one.
The green laser is very visible, but it has a fatal flaw for my application
I really wanted this to work. The green laser is very visible indoors and works great with the detector outdoors. The fatal flaw for me is the fact that the DW089 pivots off-axis to the plumb point it forms on the floor and ceiling. That meas that as you rotate the laser around its base, the point on the floor translates at a radius from the point of rotation of the stage. So, every time you rotate the laser on the tripod to match a vertical line, its plumb line below changes. This may not be a big deal for your application, but I’m trying to setup footings in a complex terrain, which makes the task next to impossible. If Dewalt reads this, please add an adapter to this laser that would allow for the pivoting to occur around the plumb point. It just needs to match the offset.
great for wall layout not the best for tiling
Bought this laser for framing layout at the jobsite and am very happy with it. I bought this to upgrade from the DW089K Dewalt laser and its performance is definitely superior but not better in all aspects.
This laser rocks!
After suffering for years squinting to try to find a marginally level, 1/4″ wide line from laser levels of dubious quality, I bit the bullet and invested in the DW089LG. It has been cold up here in the North Country as of late so I have only used the laser on a few inside jobs, but holy schnikes is this thing awesome. The green laser is amazingly bright – I was nearsighted until I accidentally looked into the beam and it instantly gave me LASIK and perfect 20/20 vision! It is really that good. I can’t wait to get this thing outside and see how it performs in the daylight, and I will probably get the detector so I can use it to set grade in small areas. Minor drawback for me is that this is my only 12V tool – wish it took 20V batteries too (my 20V chargers do charge the 12V though).
The only thing you need to know about this tool is, it works.
I’ve used this tool for 3 months now and it’s my second most used tool next to the drill.
OUTSTANDING UNIT !! ( BUT ) recommended hook and loop pads sold right next to unit on amazon are too small BEWARE
this thing is awesome especially with the 60 volt 90ah battery it is like a belt sander we use it daily as painters it has cut my workload in half my biggest complaint is that the hook and loop sandpaper packs they sell are almost 1/4 inch too small for the actual sanding disc that they are to be applied too this really made me mad after ordering 25 12 packs of them for work we opened all of them up not ever thinking that they do not fit the unit we always place our sanding papers in an organized box filed by grit now I am stuck trying to figure out how to find exact size paper we have gone thru the tiny pack they give you and the harbor freight pads are garbage as always not good at all for more than 2 minutes actual work before all grit has fallen off
