Bosch provides innovative professional power tools for the trade industry that meet the highest standards in speed, precision, and durability which helps achieve great work results. Bosch’s 18V Lithium-Ion PLH181B incorporates 4 rare earth magnets, which deliver the MOST power possible. Best-In-Class size and weight does NOT sacrifice power or performance. The Bosch PLH181B is a bare tool and does NOT include the 18V Lithium-Ion battery.
Awesome little planer.
This little guy exceeded my expectations. The price and the somewhat flimsy guide bring it down to four stars. I’m not including the L-Boxx as part of this review or I would be dropping this down to 3.5 stars. The box itself is fine, but the “exact fit” inserts kind of suck.
Delivery is fast, the quality is exelent, I recommend.
This and the cordless jigsaw are my favorite go-to carpentry tools!!
Great tool. If your a serious carpenter get it!!

Very nice planer. Made a lot of job possible and much quicker being a cordless. Powerful enough even for harder woods.
Needs more power
My old 120V Dewalt planer has a lot more power. I just planed the long end of a sticking door and it struggled at anything more than removing 1/16″ at a time. I do like that the exhaust can be switched from one side to the other and my vacuum hose fits nice and tight in the exhaust ports.
Excellent knives and dust ejection.
I build and install cabinets. Bosch cordless planers are awesome. The 4 stars is because the old safety switch was by far more user friendly. I know because I have used these planers extensively since 2004 when I got my first corded unit. Since then I bought one of the old 18 volts with the bluecore batteries and now the newer ones. These new lithium-ion batteries are much better as far as how long the batteries last. I love the dual sided dust ejection. The other high point is the knives hold up very well they are relatively inexpensive and easy to replace. I did buy a vacuum adapter and typically have it connected to a vacuum in the house. These little beasts make lots of shavings. Bosch VAC024 Vacuum Hose Adapter. I would buy it again. But please Bosch, updated tools should have more user friendly safety controls!
Worse packing ever
Planer seems to work ok on quick check but arrived loose in Bosch case!
