I bought this drill to replace an older Black & Decker drill. The size and weight of the drill is amazing compared to my older model. The battery absolutely makes the drill a better buy!!

I bought one of these 5 years ago for my high school special ed vocational class. It has been used nearly daily for light duty use on and off for about 3 hours per day. It’s still working flawlessly, and the battery life is impressive since the batteries are so small. Used batteries only have to be recharged about once every 3 days. Also, after summer breaks, the batteries had still held their charge. I love this drill so much, I bought another one for my personal home use a few days ago to replace my near useless Ni-Cad battery drill. I love the clutch that prevents the students (and me) from running screws/bolts too far or too tight into the material. I like the two small battery system (instead of the one large brick approach), as it makes the drill lighter, more compact and maneuverable. A bigger “brick” battery may last longer during use, but once it dies, you have to wait for it to recharge. Once the small long-lasting battery dies, you just plug in the other one that has been quickly recharged and plug the depleted one into the charger.. You’re never out of power. Anyway, if you’re a contractor, this drill isn’t heavy-duty enough for you. It’s consumer-grade equipment. But if you’re a homeowner, I can’t imagine a better unit due to its compact size, long battery life, and power.

Not worth it.

This is a sad, sad excuse for a drill. It says multi-speed but it’s a bit of a misnomer as the speed ranges from ‘high speed ineffective whir’ to ‘sounds more throaty but still can’t drive a screw’. I bought it for what I thought was pretty casual household use: drilling pilot holes in a few pieces of wood for craft projects and then screwing said pieces of wood together… yeah, not so much. I ended up with a bunch of partially installed screws and had to resort to a neighbour’s Ryobi to get them all the way in. Other frustrations: the chuck did not tighten perfectly so I really had to reef on it to get it to even hold the drill bit securely. It felt overly small, light, and flimsy in hand. I was hoping to be impressed and instead I’m irritated. Unfortunately I left it too long to use it to return it.

So far so good. Great for around the house.

I’ve had this for a few months now, and have been very happy with it. I haven’t used it for big projects. Mostly for putting together or taking apart pre-assembled furniture or shelves. Before I bought this, I read a lot of reviews stating this wasn’t a good drill for major construction or drilling into cement. – I’m sure it’s not. If you’re trying to build a house, get a better drill! This isn’t made for that. This is good for household use and smaller projects.

Love this drill

I already have a B&D Firestorm and another regular B&D drill using standard 12V batteries and saw this lithium battery one and ordered it. It is smaller and lighter than the first two I have and I like it for long drills and tight spaces. All-in-all – I really am totally happy with all three B&D drills. I got this one as the standard batteries don’t seem to last very long anymore and I dislike having to have 4-5 batteries on hand charged/charging for a long job. So far, this battery holds a charge well and does what a drill is supposed to do. It charges really fast also. This sale came with 2 batteries, so one is in use while the other is charging. BTW – I am 72 and have raised box beds for the garden.

Great product to have around the house for small jobs.

I bought this drill in 2012 because I was tired of borrowing my handymans drill. This drill is fantastic, it has tackled everything I have thrown at it over the years. The Battery has worked perfectly, no losing charge or failing to charge. The Drill feels very good, it feels like the perfect weight. Black and Decker products are a trusted name with me at this point. Each product I have bought from them has done what it is susposed to do and is smartly designed.

earns its 5 stars with dignity.

Couldn’t be happier. Battery was charged out of the box – means it holds the charge a long time (manual says 1yr!)… so brownie points right off the bat. The power is enough to take care of daily stuff but it did drill through a 2×4 – certainly not as efficiently as a higher-powered drill but it got through like a champ, and you could definitely build some furniture with this thing.
